Why We Built This Site
North Carolina offers several public access routes, yet no single office keeps the whole Vance County record. The sheriff creates its own reports and handles detention questions. The Clerk of Superior Court maintains District and Superior Court case files. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation keeps the fingerprint-based state repository, while the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction and the state registry maintain separate custody, supervision, and registration systems. We bring the verified portals, request steps, fees, addresses, and telephone lines into one clear local reference.
What You Will Find Here
- Record guides: how Vance County court files, arrest records, and registry entries are found and read
- Agency contacts: official routes to the sheriff, clerk, detention center, SBI, and state corrections systems
- Official check instructions: the difference between a clerk name search and a fingerprint-based personal review
- Record-clearing basics: where North Carolina expunction petitions begin and why a dismissal is not the same as expunction
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site, not part of any North Carolina court, police department, sheriff's office, or state agency. Those limits mean we cannot perform government services:
- We cannot run an official background check or pull a criminal record for anyone
- We cannot submit an expunction petition, public-record request, or other filing for you
- We cannot issue certified copies of any criminal record, court document, or rap sheet
- We cannot provide legal advice about a charge, warrant, conviction, or petition
- We cannot promise that an office's phone number, address, hours, or fee will never change
Only the office that maintains a record, such as the sheriff, clerk, or SBI, can issue an official or certified copy.
Search Partners
Some pages contain search boxes operated by outside providers. Those providers control their own results, prices, and data practices. We may receive a referral fee if a visitor follows a tool to a paid service, which helps support free access to the reference material. We do not set the provider's fees and cannot guarantee its matches or coverage.
